Popular Nollywood star Yvonne Jegede has publicly criticized Pastor Femi Lazarus of Abuja’s Light Nation Church for his controversial remarks regarding women’s menstrual cycles.
The clergyman faced widespread backlash after a clip from one of his sermons went viral, where he dismissed the biological impact of menstruation on women’s emotions.
In the video, Lazarus asserted that mood fluctuations during periods stem from attitude rather than physiology, stating, “You’re not the first woman to menstruate—your period isn’t the issue. Scripture never mentions women complaining about cramps. Your lack of peace is the problem.”
Yvonne fired back on social media, emphasizing the importance of empathy from those who’ve never endured such experiences. “Saw a viral clip of a pastor downplaying menstrual discomfort,” she posted. “Unless you’ve lived through the hormonal whirlwind of periods, ovulation, or pregnancy, refrain from uninformed declarations. Men, choose compassion.”
