Super Eagles captain Wilfred Ndidi is grieving the sudden loss of his father, Sunday Ndidi, who tragically lost his life in a car crash in Delta State.
The retired serviceman was involved in a fatal collision in Umunede and was pronounced deceased after emergency responders rushed him to a nearby hospital in Agbor.
Overwhelmed with sorrow, Ndidi took to Instagram to express his heartbreak. Reflecting on his final conversation with his father, he penned:
“Your voice was filled with joy this morning—but looking back, it was your farewell.
“What happened to all our plans? Will I never hear your voice again?
“I honored you with the Papilo celebration when I scored for Nigeria, yet you’re gone too soon.”

The Leicester City midfielder recently led Nigeria’s national team to a bronze medal at the 2025 AFCON in Morocco, where he netted his maiden international goal.
His celebration—a homage to Nigerian football icon Kanu Nwankwo—was a touching tribute to his late father, who idolized the former Arsenal star.
