Renowned gospel artist Yinka Alaseyor has issued a public apology after facing criticism for her recent statements concerning the kidnapping of students and teachers in Oyo State.
In a heartfelt Instagram video posted Wednesday, Alaseyor expressed regret over the unintended offense caused by her earlier remarks, clarifying that she did not mean to downplay the severity of the situation.
She recounted waking up to widespread backlash, realizing that many Nigerians felt her words had minimized the trauma of the victims and their families.
Addressing grieving mothers and relatives directly, Alaseyor apologized sincerely, stressing that she would never deliberately dismiss their pain.
She pleaded for understanding, explaining that her message had been misconstrued, and asked those hurt by her comments to forgive her.
Previously, Alaseyor had urged Nigerians to remain prayerful amid escalating insecurity while noting government efforts—a stance that sparked outrage among critics who viewed it as insufficient given the crisis.
The abduction of schoolchildren and educators in Oriire LGA remains a pressing issue, with citizens demanding stronger action from authorities to ensure the victims’ safe return.
