Nigerian rap legend Olamide, popularly known as Baddo, has crowned Grammy-winning superstar Wizkid as the ultimate Afrobeats icon, second only to the late trailblazer Fela Kuti.

The YBNL boss made the statement during a recent interview in Canada while reflecting on his numerous hit collaborations with Wizkid.

“Working with Wizkid has always been magical. Honestly, in my book, he stands as the greatest Afrobeats act since Fela,” Olamide remarked.

He dismissed claims that their collaborations were merely strategic, highlighting instead the natural synergy between their musical styles.

Olamide’s statement has ignited a firestorm of reactions online, with fans passionately debating the merits of Wizkid’s status in the Afrobeats pantheon.

This comes after Burna Boy proclaimed himself the biggest African artist post-Fela, while Davido has consistently laid claim to the “King of Afrobeats” title.

Supporters of Wizkid, Davido, and Burna Boy are now locked in heated discussions over who truly deserves the crown in the Afrobeats legacy.
