During a candid interview, the award-winning artist admitted feeling homesick during his two-year stay in the US, primarily due to the scarcity of authentic Nigerian dishes.
The music icon disclosed shelling out $300-$400 daily just to satisfy his appetite for home-cooked Nigerian meals while living overseas.
Despite his international success and lavish lifestyle, Wizkid proudly embraces his “local boy” identity, emphasizing his unwavering preference for traditional Nigerian food over foreign delicacies.
He revealed that no matter where his career takes him, his taste buds remain loyal to Nigerian flavors—so much so that his extended US stay left him frustrated without easy access to his favorite dishes.
The superstar humorously noted that while fame might change circumstances, it can’t change one’s roots, quipping that you can take the boy out of Lagos but never take Lagos out of the boy.
