The ongoing feud between Afrobeat pioneer Seun Kuti and global superstar Wizkid has taken a dramatic turn with the intervention of Motunrayo Kuti, daughter of the late musical icon Fela Anikulapo Kuti.

What began as a disagreement over the shared use of the “Big Bird” nickname quickly turned personal, with Wizkid making a controversial statement about Seun’s late father.

Motunrayo, enraged by the perceived disrespect toward her family’s legacy, responded with a fiery video message, defending her father’s unrivaled contributions to music and African culture.

She boldly challenged Wizkid’s remarks, countering by dragging his family into the controversy, even referencing his deceased mother and estranged father in scathing verbal assaults.

“You say you’re bigger than Fela? Fine, but are you also bigger than your own father—that man who abandoned you? The one named Muniru Olátúnjí Balogun? Or your late mother, who you lost so young?” she lashed out.

“Let’s be clear: Fela’s name outshines Muniru’s and your mother’s combined. No artist today can ever reach what Fela achieved for music and our people.”
