Croatian star Luka Modric has revealed his motivation behind swapping Real Madrid for AC Milan this summer.
The midfield maestro made the move to Serie A after departing Los Blancos following their FIFA Club World Cup campaign.
Modric will don the No. 14 jersey for Milan this season after agreeing to a one-year contract with the Rossoneri.
The veteran playmaker explained he chose Milan to remain in European football at the highest level.
“Choosing AC Milan? I wanted to keep competing in Europe’s elite competitions,” Modric told MadridXtra.
“Other opportunities arose, but Milan’s approach made my decision straightforward.
“Their enthusiasm convinced me immediately – especially their personal trip to Croatia to outline their vision.
“That commitment resonated with me. AC Milan remains among football’s most prestigious institutions.”
Modric is currently preparing for Milan’s upcoming pre-season clash against Arsenal next week.
