Renowned Nigerian-American rapper Wale recently disclosed how he significantly influenced the rise of Afrobeats sensation Wizkid.
During a live chat with Carter Efe, Wale emphasized his pivotal role in introducing Wizkid to a global audience, helping propel his career internationally.
He recalled housing the singer in Beverly Hills, referring to him as a longtime friend and collaborator.
“I’ve been deeply connected to Nigerian music for years, supporting numerous artists—some I know personally, others just through their art. Wizkid is family; we’ve shared a bond for nearly a decade.
“I took him to his first BET Awards, and we spent an entire summer in Beverly Hills creating music. Tracks like ‘Drop for Me’ came from those sessions,” he revealed.
“Wizkid and I go way back—10 years strong. I brought him to his debut BET Awards and even hosted him in Beverly Hills.” – Wale pic.twitter.com/3RbplnvaRj
