Nigerian songstress Aituaje Iruobe, popularly known as Waje, has finally addressed long-standing rumors about a romantic involvement with rapper M.I.
Fans had speculated about their relationship status following their chemistry-filled collaborations on love-themed tracks during the 2010s.
Setting the record straight during her appearance on The Honest Bunch podcast, the award-winning vocalist dismissed all dating rumors, emphasizing their professional creative partnership.
“Our hit single ‘One Naira’ sparked dating rumors because of its passionate storyline, but there was never anything beyond musical chemistry. We invented characters to enhance the song’s narrative—it was strictly artistic,” Waje revealed.
“M.I’s girlfriend at the time handled the voice-over, further proving our bond was purely platonic,” she added.
The singer also shared insights into her current single status, stating she prioritizes independence and has no interest in dating men who aren’t established. “I’m past the stage of building with anyone—I know my worth,” she asserted.
