Senator Emmanuel Memga Udende, representing Benue North-East, has reported an attack on his convoy by suspected political thugs during a church service at House of Solution Church of All Nations (HOSCOAN) in Kpe Aya, Tsua Community, Mbagbera, Vandeikya LGA. The incident occurred while he was worshiping alongside other congregants.
In a statement issued by his media aide, Jerry Orgem Iorngaem, Udende disclosed that the assailants stormed the venue before the service concluded, vandalizing canopies and chairs. He claimed the attackers arrived in five buses, loudly singing political slogans.
Vandeikya LGA Chairman, Dennis Terkura Guda, countered the senator’s account, holding him responsible for the security breach. Guda criticized Udende for not following protocol by failing to notify local authorities or secure necessary security clearances prior to his visit.
Guda emphasized that high-ranking officials like Udende must adhere to established procedures, including informing local government leadership and security agencies before such visits—especially within their own political party.
“Given Senator Udende’s position, proper communication with local stakeholders is mandatory. The lack of transparency surrounding this visit raises questions about its true intent,” the chairman remarked.
