Nigerian forward Victor Boniface admitted rejecting a tempting proposal to join the English Premier League in the past.

He emphasized his lack of interest in the league, citing his discomfort with teams that demand excessive pressure from players.

The Bundesliga star, now at Bayer Leverkusen, previously attracted Premier League interest but opted against it.

“The Premier League doesn’t appeal to me much — not that I’d outright refuse an offer, but it must be the right club,” Boniface shared on The Culture League podcast.

“Before making any transfer decision, I assess the team’s style of play. Will it fit me? Is there overwhelming pressure? Some players struggle under such conditions.

“When I was leaving Belgium after a strong season, English clubs approached me with attractive offers. Despite the financial incentives, I chose Leverkusen because it aligned better with my preferences.”
