Victor Boniface

Victor Boniface has jokingly hinted at stepping away from international football with Nigeria’s Super Eagles.

The 24-year-old forward shared a playful post on Instagram, claiming to have retired from the game on Friday.

This followed Nigeria’s 1-1 stalemate against Russia in a friendly match held in Moscow.

Boniface featured for 61 minutes before being replaced by Tolu Arokodare, who netted the equalizer for the Eagles.

In his now-deleted post, he reflected on the highs and lows of representing Nigeria, expressing deep appreciation.

“Honored to wear my nation’s colors—a lifelong dream. Cherished every moment, the triumphs and challenges. Sincerely grateful.”

“Big thanks to everyone. Mi don retire,” the message read.

The Bayer Leverkusen striker later removed the post and replaced it with a humorous meme, suggesting it was all in jest.

Known for his playful online persona, Boniface often entertains fans with his witty social media presence.

He debuted for the Super Eagles on September 10, 2023, coming on for Taiwo Awoniyi in a match against São Tomé and Príncipe.

Despite his club success, his goalless run for the national team has drawn frequent criticism from fans and pundits alike.
