Pete Edochie

Renowned Nollywood icon Pete Edochie has voiced his frustration over Nigeria’s worsening power crisis, disclosing an eye-watering daily expenditure of N40,000 to keep his household illuminated.

During a candid discussion on African Independent Television (AIT), the legendary actor painted a grim picture of how unreliable electricity disrupts everyday life.

The breakdown of his costs includes N10,000 for prepaid electricity tokens, N20,000 for diesel to operate a main generator, and an additional N10,000 for petrol to keep a backup generator running.

“Each day, I shell out ₦10,000 for electricity credits, ₦20,000 for diesel, and ₦10,000 for fuel just to maintain power in my home. That’s ₦40,000 vanishing daily,” he explained.

This staggering sum accumulates to nearly N1.2 million per month—a financial burden reflecting Nigeria’s deepening energy crisis.

“What pains me most isn’t just the cost, but seeing leaders chase political power while ignoring citizens’ struggles,” Edochie remarked.

His comments resonate with nationwide grievances, as millions endure daily blackouts despite government assurances of improved electricity distribution.
