Renowned Nigerian online commentator, VeryDarkMan, has publicly criticized his legal counsel, Deji Adeyanju, for advising him to steer clear of potential dangers.
Adeyanju had previously taken to X (formerly Twitter) to caution VeryDarkMan against reckless behavior, emphasizing that people would quickly move on if harm ever befell him.
In his post, Adeyanju stated: “I constantly warn VDM to exercise caution and avoid needless risks, but he rarely listens. If anything happens to you today, the world will forget by tomorrow. We often overestimate our importance—Nigerians value no one permanently.”
In a fiery response, VeryDarkMan expressed deep dissatisfaction with his lawyer’s remarks.
He retorted: “Honestly, this post from my so-called lawyer has left me utterly let down.
“First off, Deji Adeyanju, I’m shocked by your words, especially coming from someone who calls himself an activist. If this were just any random person speaking, I’d dismiss it as ignorance.
“Yes, Nigerians might move on if I die today—but who wouldn’t face the same fate? Jesus died and humanity carried on. Popes passed, and replacements were crowned. Even Buhari’s death was just another news cycle. Who do you think is exempt from this truth?
“Frankly, anyone who spews this ‘the world moves on’ nonsense is spineless—I swear. It’s the kind of scare tactic politicians use to silence critics. This mindset is pure cowardice.
“I have influence, yet even those who play it safe get murdered in their homes—Benue, Borno, Taraba, Delta, Enugu, name it. You believe you’re significant? Newsflash: We’re all expendable. Stop overestimating your worth.”
