Tyla's Lagos Show Faces Calls for Cancellation from VeryDarkMan

Social media activist Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan, has issued a stern warning to organizers of South African artist Tyla’s upcoming Lagos concert, demanding its cancellation.

In a viral video posted Thursday, VDM condemned escalating racial tensions against Nigerians in South Africa and vowed the concert would not proceed.

The influencer argued that allowing Tyla to profit from Nigerian fans while South Africans continue to target their compatriots overseas would be unacceptable.

VDM explicitly stated, “Tyla’s concert in Nigeria is canceled,” cautioning promoters that any attempts to move forward with the event would be met with resistance.

Citing the ongoing legal struggles of Nigerian national Chidinma Adetshina against deportation in South Africa, he questioned the ethics of supporting Tyla’s show while Nigerians face hostility in her home country.

He threatened disruptive action should organizers ignore his warning, declaring, “We will shut down the venue if they force this event.”

Online reports reveal growing demands for a nationwide boycott of the concert in protest of anti-Nigerian sentiment in South Africa.

The backlash follows Tyla’s announced world tour itinerary, listing Lagos as a stop on December 22, 2026.
