Famous Nollywood actor Stanley Ontop has sounded the alarm over new claims that actress Angela Okorie may face immediate re-arrest after her recent release from custody.
Angela was previously detained at Suleja Correctional Facility following accusations of making defamatory statements about fellow actress Mercy Johnson.
Though granted bail by the Federal High Court in Abuja, procedural delays in verifying her surety’s details kept her behind bars beyond the expected release time.
In a social media update, Stanley Ontop revealed disturbing intelligence that law enforcement agents are prepared to detain Angela again as soon as she steps out of prison.
He claimed police officers have allegedly been deployed outside the facility based on a newly filed petition against the actress.
The actor criticized the Nigerian Police Force’s handling of the situation, stating: “Angela Okorie’s release is imminent after yesterday’s verification hurdles. However, we’ve received troubling reports that officers await her exit to take her back into custody under a fresh allegation. When did arresting before investigating become standard procedure?”
“This constant harassment of citizens by those sworn to protect them must end. We demand proper protocol be followed. The safety of Angela Okorie upon her release remains our priority.”
