Renowned Nigerian fashion designer Toyin Lawani has publicly accused Euracare, a Lagos-based medical facility, of severe medical negligence following a spinal surgery that left her with life-altering complications.
The Tiannah Empire CEO took to Instagram on Sunday, sharing harrowing details of her ordeal, which included temporary paralysis, lung infections, and multiple emergency procedures.
Lawani revealed she underwent spine surgery at the private clinic but suffered catastrophic post-operative complications, including losing mobility in her legs and developing a dangerous pulmonary infection despite spending nearly ₦100 million on treatment.
In a fiery social media post, she vowed legal action: “Euracare Hospital, your cup is finally full. I warned you I wasn’t done. Just wait—I’m coming for you.”
The celebrity designer described her ongoing health struggles: “After paying millions, they nearly killed me. I still can’t speak clearly or walk properly. They punctured my lungs during emergency surgery, damaged my vocal cords, and left me fighting for breath.”
Detailing her medical nightmare, Lawani explained: “When I lost function in both legs post-discharge, UK specialists had to intervene. They performed three emergency procedures before I could be airlifted abroad, where doctors discovered massive lung infections.”
Lawani’s allegations surfaced days after celebrated author Chimamanda Adichie blamed the same hospital for her son’s death, prompting Lagos health authorities to launch an official probe into the facility’s practices.
The fashion entrepreneur remains under medical care abroad, continuing treatment for complications she attributes to Euracare’s alleged malpractice.
