Nollywood star Toyin Abraham has strongly refuted circulating rumors alleging her involvement in the re-detention of X influencer Big Ayo, dismissing the claims as baseless and misleading.

As speculation flared across social media platforms, Abraham issued a swift denial on Tuesday, clarifying she was occupied with a film shoot and had no part in any legal proceedings against Ayo.

“How could I have orchestrated an arrest? I’m currently on set filming, so this is completely false. Kindly ignore such fabricated narratives. I’ve not initiated any arrests—neither Ayo’s nor anyone else’s. It’s all love,” Abraham emphasized in her response.

The controversy ignited when an X user, Khan, posted an accusation (now deleted) suggesting Abraham had influenced Ayo’s re-arrest. The assertion quickly trended, reviving debates about the actress’s past clashes with online critics.

However, another X user, Prince Adeshina, stepped in to correct the misinformation, confirming Abraham was at a movie shoot with no ties to the incident. Abraham endorsed his statement by sharing the clarification on her profile.

“For public awareness, Toyin Abraham was immersed in a film project and had no involvement in Ayo’s arrest. Treat the circulating story as misinformation. The original poster may need to substantiate their claims,” Adeshina stated.

This resurgence of controversy traces back to July 2024, when Abraham pursued legal recourse against individuals accused of cyberstalking her. At the time, an X user named Jeffery misrepresented that his mother had been detained over online trolling. Abraham later rectified the claim, revealing it was Jeffery’s associate, Big Ayo, who faced arrest for relentless online abuse and derogatory remarks about her family.

Ayo had previously posted a divisive allegation, insinuating Abraham improperly used politically-linked funds for personal marital expenses. The incendiary post drew public outcry, prompting Abraham to seek legal intervention.

Defending her stance, Abraham stressed her refusal to endure familial insults and highlighted the emotional toll of sustained harassment. She maintained that her legal actions were justified to safeguard her reputation and family.

Abraham’s confrontations with online trolls intensified following her vocal endorsement of President Bola Tinubu during Nigeria’s 2023 elections, attracting persistent digital vitriol from critics.

Despite the renewed uproar, the actress reaffirmed her commitment to peace, urging the public to dismiss the false allegations and reiterating her goodwill toward all parties.

The episode underscores the pervasive challenge of misinformation on social media and heightens calls for responsible digital engagement in Nigeria’s entertainment landscape.
