Emotions ran high at the WeLovEya Festival in Benin Republic as Tiwa Savage’s heartfelt performance of ‘Somebody’s Son’ left her in tears, a moment that quickly went viral across social media platforms.
Held at Cotonou’s vibrant Amazon Square, the two-day musical extravaganza showcased an incredible assortment of African talent, from Afrobeats legends to rising stars.
Savage, often hailed as the “Queen of Afrobeats,” captivated the audience with her raw and unfiltered rendition of the 2021 hit track, which features R&B icon Brandy.
The song’s deeply personal lyrics, centered on love and emotional vulnerability, resonated powerfully during the performance, causing her to stop momentarily as tears streamed down her face.
Fan-recorded clips showed the audience rallying behind her, chanting encouragement as she composed herself and completed the song with renewed strength.
Following her 2018 divorce from former husband TeeBillz, Savage has openly spoken about her challenges in finding lasting love, despite her enormous success in music.
In a candid interview last October, she humorously joked about considering polygamy, saying,
“Maybe I could settle as a second wife—I’d get along with the first because I’m not the troublesome type!”
Tiwa Savage’s emotional breakdown while performing “Somebody’s Son” at WeLovEya Festival has fans talking worldwide.
