At the 68th Grammy Awards, Nigerian stars Davido, Burna Boy, Ayra Starr, Omah Lay, and Wizkid were outshined by South Africa’s Tyla in the Best African Music Performance category, sparking discussions across the continent.

DJ Big N, the renowned Mavin Records disc jockey, has called on Nigerian musicians to intensify their efforts to secure future Grammy wins after their recent loss.

Following Tyla’s victory over powerhouse Nigerian artists at the prestigious awards ceremony, DJ Big N took to social media to share his thoughts on how they could improve their chances.

In a post on X, he attributed the setback to insufficient engagement with key music industry platforms in the U.S., urging Nigerian acts to follow the footsteps of icons like Angelique Kidjo.

According to him, consistent participation in American music seminars and events is crucial for visibility and influence within the Recording Academy’s decision-making process.

His message read, “Seeing our stars miss out on Grammy gold hurts, but legends like @angeliquekidjo teach us the importance of year-round engagement.

“She doesn’t just show up on awards night—she’s actively shaping the industry. We need more Nigerian voices in the @RecordingAcad voting body to shift the narrative. Next year can be different if we step up now.”
