Nigerian music sensation Omawumi has dismissed Timaya’s assertion that a younger Burna Boy once ejected her and Waje from a studio for questioning his talent.
This follows Timaya’s comment in a December interview where he alleged Burna Boy had asked the two female artists to leave after they expressed skepticism about his ambition of flying private jets someday.
“Burna Boy’s success today doesn’t shock me. His confidence was unmatched.”

In a heated response during her chat with Naija FM Lagos, Omawumi denied the story, expressing frustration at being dragged into the narrative.
She emphasized the importance of mutual respect in the industry and questioned Timaya’s motive for mentioning her name.
Omawumi stated, “That’s absolute nonsense. What bothered me most was how Timaya used my name just to hype Burna Boy. We’ve been friends for years, and I respect all my colleagues—that’s how I’ve built my career.
“Why drag me into this? He wanted to make a point about Burna Boy’s fearlessness, but why involve me? Timaya himself has had moments he wouldn’t want publicized, but I’d never use that to push an agenda. Even Burna Boy has always shown us respect.
“Was this just for clicks? My brand is built on professionalism, and now people might believe some fake drama happened. The truth is, the only time I recall being in a studio with Burna Boy, Waje, and Timaya was in 2010. I left because it was late—no drama, no arguments. So where did this story come from?”

“Total fabrication…”
