Just hours before the 2025 World Championships kick off in Tokyo, Japan, Tobi Amusan, former world champion and women’s 100m hurdles record holder, has slammed the Nigerian government over the poor-quality kits provided to her and other national athletes.

Amusan expressed frustration at what she described as unprofessionalism and disorganization within the athletics federation.

In a video posted on her Snapchat, Amusan pointed out that while other nations supply their teams with neatly packed suitcases, Nigerian athletes receive kits in flimsy nylon bags containing almost nothing useful.

‘’This country will never stop embarrassing you. You want people to stay loyal? You’re not even prepared. No singlets. Nothing!” she said.

She added that while Jamaica’s officials also face delays in distributing supplies, their efforts still surpass Nigeria’s handling.
