Al-Ahli striker Ivan Toney took a subtle dig at Cristiano Ronaldo’s Al-Nassr after his team clinched the Saudi Super Cup in a thrilling final at the Hong Kong Stadium on Saturday.
Toney played a key role as Al-Ahli triumphed over Al-Nassr 5-3 on penalties following a 2-2 draw in regulation time.
The match was marred by pre-game tension, with Toney also claiming that the Saudi league unfairly targeted Al-Ahli.
In his post-match comments, Toney told Al Nassr Zone: “Our resilience made the difference—we stuck together, and this is the result.
“They tried every trick, even swapping referees, but it didn’t work.”
