There Are No Genuine Friends In The Music Industry – Singer, Ruger Claims

Afrobeats sensation Michael Adebayo Olayinka, aka Ruger, has dropped a truth bomb about the Nigerian music scene—genuine friendships are rare.

In a candid interview on The Stanley Agu Show, Ruger revealed that artists are lucky if they can count even one or two authentic friends in the industry.

According to him, most connections are strictly transactional. He emphasized, “I wish I realized sooner—hardly anyone is truly your friend here. If you’re fortunate, maybe one or two people genuinely support your growth and stick around during tough times. That’s it.”

“Everything revolves around business—people see what you can bring to the table. The moment you can’t deliver, the ‘love’ disappears. Keep it real: your circle here might be tiny, even nonexistent.”
