Sunday Oliseh

Ex-Super Eagles skipper Sunday Oliseh has dismissed claims that Nigeria relies solely on star forward Victor Osimhen for success.

Oliseh shared his thoughts before Nigeria’s crucial AFCON semi-final clash against Morocco on Wednesday.

He emphasized that the Super Eagles’ strength lies in their collective performance rather than individual brilliance.

“Nigeria isn’t just Osimhen,” Oliseh stated during an appearance on the Global Football Insights podcast.

“This team is built on eleven committed players. In two decades, I haven’t witnessed a Nigerian squad display such cohesive football as we’ve seen against Uganda, Mozambique, and Algeria.”

Oliseh’s comments follow Osimhen’s much-discussed on-field clash with teammate Ademola Lookman during Nigeria’s 4-0 victory over Mozambique in the AFCON Round of 16.

The duo has since reconciled, featuring together in Nigeria’s impressive 2-0 quarter-final triumph against Algeria.
