Gabriel Oche Amanyi, the renowned Nigerian musician known professionally as Terry G, has openly challenged Benue State Governor Hyacinth Alia over his recent dismissal of religious persecution allegations in the state.

The governor, speaking at a National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) forum addressing displaced persons’ rights in Abuja, refuted U.S. claims labeling Nigeria as a hotspot for religious genocide, particularly against Christians. Alia firmly denied these allegations, stating that neither Benue nor other Nigerian regions faced such systematic violence.

“In Benue, we categorically reject these baseless claims of religious or ethnic genocide. There is no truth to such narratives,” Alia declared during the event.

However, Terry G, a Benue-born artist, took to Instagram to dispute the governor’s stance. In a fiery post, he accused Alia of turning a blind eye to the suffering of Christians in the state.

“How can a reverend governor deny the obvious? The bloodshed in Benue tells a different story. If this isn’t religious targeting, what is? Leaders must acknowledge the truth to enact change,” Terry G wrote.

He further emphasized, “Silence won’t erase the violence—Christians in Benue are under siege, and no amount of political rhetoric can cover that up.”
