Omije Ojumi

Emotions ran high on Thursday during the burial ceremony of Nigerian gospel artist Bunmi Adeoye Akinnanu, widely known as Omije Ojumi.

The late singer, who died on January 12, was laid to rest at Atan Cemetery in Lagos State, but the solemn event took an unexpected turn.

A heated altercation broke out at the gravesite between the family of Omije Ojumi’s estranged husband and her grieving children.

Reports suggest that the singer’s ex-husband, who resides in the United States, attempted to communicate with their children during the burial.

Her relatives strongly objected, arguing that the graveside was an inappropriate setting for such a discussion while the children mourned their mother.

Tensions escalated when one of the estranged husband’s sisters insisted that the late singer’s son was part of their family, prompting an emotional outburst from the young man.

“I am not! I am not!” he shouted before being restrained by other family members.
