Mohamed Salah

Liverpool star Mohamed Salah has openly criticized UEFA for its social media announcement regarding the passing of Palestinian football icon Suleiman Al-Obeid.

Salah raised concerns about UEFA’s tribute to the late footballer, often referred to as the Palestinian Pele, who lost his life while seeking humanitarian assistance in Gaza.

The Egyptian forward became the first prominent athlete to challenge UEFA’s post, demanding clarity on Instagram: “Can you explain the circumstances of his death? The location and the cause.”

He urged UEFA to provide transparency about Al-Obeid’s tragic fate alongside their public acknowledgment of his legacy.

Al-Obeid, a skilled forward, represented clubs in Gaza, the West Bank, and the Palestinian national team during his career.

The 41-year-old former player reportedly passed away while attempting to secure aid for his family in southern Gaza amid ongoing hardships.
