Talented young actress Kaylee Hottle, known for her breakout roles in “Godzilla vs. Kong” and its sequel, tragically lost her life in a Maryland car accident early Tuesday morning, authorities confirmed.
As reported by the Frederick County Sheriff’s Office, the 18-year-old rising star was a passenger in a 1995 Honda Accord that veered off a rural roadway and crashed into a drainage culvert around 2:52 AM local time.
Investigators revealed that speeding likely played a role in the devastating collision. While the 19-year-old driver sustained non-life-threatening injuries and another passenger refused medical attention, Hottle succumbed to her injuries at a nearby hospital.
The deaf actress, who received critical acclaim for her portrayal of “Jia” in the iconic monster franchise, had recently earned a 2024 Saturn Award nomination for Best Performance by a Younger Actor for her work in “Godzilla X Kong: The New Empire.”
Devastating news of her passing was initially shared in a heartfelt video by her father, Joshua Hottle, who conveyed the tragic update through American Sign Language on social media platforms.
The Texas School for the Deaf, where Hottle had been enrolled, issued a somber statement mourning the “irreplaceable loss” of their beloved student. They requested privacy for the grieving family and discouraged speculation regarding the tragic incident.
Hottle’s sudden death has sent shockwaves through Hollywood and the deaf community, where she had become an inspirational figure and rising star before her untimely passing.
