Ademola Lookman

Nigerian star and Atalanta forward Ademola Lookman has officially requested a transfer, claiming the club is blocking his potential move to Inter Milan.

In a social media post on Sunday, the 27-year-old expressed his frustration, stating he reached his breaking point and confirmed submitting a formal transfer request.

Lookman revealed mutual agreement with the club’s leadership for an offseason move, with assurances he’d be released if a fair offer arrived.

The winger asserted Atalanta received matching offers to prior discussions yet reneged on their commitment.

He wrote, “I hope we can resolve this situation positively for everyone involved quickly.”

“My three years at Atalanta represent complete dedication – not just professionally but personally. I’ve always represented this club and Bergamo with pride, passion and full commitment.

“Joining this special club, we achieved unforgettable milestones together. Our Europa League victory in Dublin remains among my career highlights – still gives me chills recalling that celebration with our amazing fans.

Atalanta and its supporters have become family. This city became home immediately, and I’ve constantly worked to return that warmth – even during unseen challenges off the field.

“That’s why this decision pains me. While cherishing every moment, I believe after three incredible years, it’s time for a new chapter. Previous interest from clubs was always met with loyalty, but both management and I agreed now was appropriate for transition with assurances of cooperation for fair offers.

“Despite receiving precisely such an offer now, I’m being prevented from moving for unclear reasons.

“After months of unfulfilled promises and what I perceive as unfair treatment professionally and personally, I must take this stand. I’ve now formally requested transfer.

“Through all difficulties – many kept private – I prioritized club, fans and teammates, hoping to avoid this outcome. Unfortunately, I see no alternative.

“To our incredible fans: I deeply regret reaching this point. I trust you’ll understand this complex situation stems from principles of fairness. Your unwavering support created a bond I’ll always treasure.”

The Super Eagles attacker is determined to join Chivu’s Inter Milan, with ongoing negotiations between the Italian rivals.

Transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano confirms Lookman submitted his exit request this weekend. Inter’s latest bid of €42m plus €3m add-ons was immediately rejected by Atalanta.

The club maintains €50m as the minimum valuation for the current African Footballer of the Year.
