The Super Eagles of Nigeria are set to receive a staggering $10,000 (approximately ₦14 million) for every goal scored in their AFCON knockout clash against Mozambique.
Per BSNSports, the financial incentive—backed by a high-profile Nigerian investor and team stakeholder—will be active during Monday’s decisive encounter in Morocco.
Nigeria’s attacking prowess has been on full display, netting eight goals in the group stage, showcasing their offensive firepower.
This latest boost doubles the initial $5,000-per-goal bonus offered during the group phase, reflecting heightened stakes as the tournament advances.
Mallam Shehu Dikko, Chairman of the National Sports Commission, shared details with the press in Rabat, emphasizing the team’s motivation.
“The Super Eagles are fully energized to excel in this competition,” Dikko stated. “President Bola Ahmed Tinubu greenlit the AFCON Intervention Fund on November 14, ensuring government backing.
“Our partners initially granted $5,000 per goal in the group stage and have now elevated it to $10,000 for the knockout rounds. The rewards will scale further as the team progresses deeper into the tournament.”
