Nigeria’s Super Eagles head coach Éric Chelle has revealed his aspirations to one day take charge of Spanish powerhouse Real Madrid, marking a historic milestone for African football.
Chelle’s stock has risen significantly following Nigeria’s impressive third-place finish at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, sparking speculation about potential offers from top-tier national teams.
The ambitious tactician, 48, expressed his desire to break barriers by becoming the first African manager to guide the 14-time UEFA Champions League winners.
“Coaching Real Madrid is a lifelong ambition—I want to pave the way for African coaches at the highest level,” Chelle stated.
Beginning his managerial journey in 2014 with French lower-league side Groupe Sportif Consolat, Chelle later steered Mali’s national team from 2022 to 2024 before taking the reins with Nigeria.
His tactical acumen and recent achievements have cemented his status as one of Africa’s most promising coaching talents.
