Super Eagles star Alex Iwobi has admitted uncertainty over Nigeria’s 2026 World Cup qualification as the team awaits FIFA’s decision.
The NFF is banking on a favorable ruling from FIFA after lodging a complaint against DR Congo, which could revive Nigeria’s World Cup aspirations.
When questioned by SuperSport whether he would prioritize AFCON 2025 glory or World Cup qualification, Iwobi gave a thoughtful response.
The Fulham midfielder, who featured in the 2018 World Cup, said: “It’s a difficult choice because winning AFCON leaves an incredible legacy—it’s a career-defining achievement.
“But many of my teammates haven’t experienced the World Cup, so I can’t be selfish and say AFCON is more important.
“They deserve that opportunity too. Honestly, I’m torn—both are massive milestones.”
