Afrobeats artist Spyro has voiced unease over explicit material in contemporary music videos, admitting most performers wouldn’t allow their kids to view their own creations.

The artist described certain visual productions as borderline adult entertainment rather than artistic expression.

He shared these thoughts while analyzing the evolution of Nigeria’s entertainment landscape and its effect on his creative journey.

Though proudly proclaiming his Christian faith, the “Who’s Your Guy” hitmaker emphasized that his spiritual identity doesn’t translate to creating religious music.

“I worship God devoutly but my artistry explores secular themes,” he explained.

The musician disclosed staggering production budgets exceeding 100 million naira for recordings and 50 million for visual projects, though streaming returns sometimes leave him questioning industry dynamics.

Citing Wizkid as a primary inspiration, Spyro credited the Grammy-winning superstar with shaping his musical approach and professional mindset.

His breakthrough came through divine intervention after repeated career setbacks, the artist revealed. “Human effort and talent kept failing until I surrendered to God’s plan,” he confessed.

Spyro recounted praying not for personal success but for his mother’s wellbeing, after which his musical fortunes dramatically changed.
