Nigerian rapper Speed Darlington has finally reacted after being summoned by the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP).

The controversial artist was invited following a viral confession video where he allegedly admitted to an inappropriate relationship with a minor.

NAPTIP initially scheduled his appearance last week, but when Speed failed to comply, a fresh invitation was issued for June 2nd.

In a surprising twist, the musician’s legal team has now issued an official response, insisting his remarks were merely “clout-chasing antics” rather than admissions of guilt.

The statement confirms his commitment to appear before authorities later this month.

Below is the full text of his lawyer’s correspondence:

“The Director General, National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons 2nd June, 2025

Ngamaraju Titus Mangzha Dear Mr Titus,

RE: REQUEST FOR CLARIFICATION CONCERNING ONLINE STATEMENTS ALLEGING MINOR S3XUAL MISCONDUCT

This communication serves to acknowledge your official correspondence dated May 28, 2025, which referenced questionable social media content allegedly featuring admissions that could potentially violate provisions under the Trafficking in Persons Act and Cybercrime legislation.

As someone raised with uncompromising moral principles, I categorically state that I have never—and would never—engage in or condone any form of s3xual misconduct, particularly involving minors. The video in question was purely satirical content designed for entertainment purposes within appropriate boundaries.

While regretting any unintended distress caused by my comedic persona, I maintain that responsible viewers recognized the video’s obvious fictional nature. The current misinterpretation appears driven by those seeking controversy where none rightfully exists.

Nevertheless, I remain willing to cooperate fully with your inquiry and shall present myself at your Abuja headquarters on June 26, 2025. Please accept my assurances of continued respect for your institution’s important work.

Sincerely, Darlington Okoye”
