Sophia Momodu, mother of Nigerian singer Davido’s eldest daughter Imade, has responded to allegations that she intentionally kept her child from attending a recent family wedding in the U.S.
The Adeleke family gathered for a lavish ceremony last weekend, where Davido’s younger daughter Hailey was spotted among relatives—while Imade’s absence became a topic of online debate.
Following public speculation, Sophia took to Instagram to clarify her position, revealing she was shocked to wake up to unwarranted criticism regarding her parenting choices.
In her detailed statement, Sophia emphasized that Imade thrives under her care, describing her as a joyful and well-adjusted child. She highlighted her role as Imade’s primary guardian since birth, handling all expenses except school fees, which Davido’s parents have generously supported for the past three years.
Sophia firmly denied withholding access to Davido, stating she actively encourages their daughter’s relationship with him while prioritizing Imade’s well-being and maintaining structured visitation arrangements.
She concluded by affirming that despite Davido’s lack of financial support, Imade lacks nothing in her upbringing.
