Afrobeats artist Slimcase has expressed concerns over the oversaturation of the music industry, stating that the constant release of songs and albums is diminishing the genre’s appeal.

The musician shared his thoughts in a candid Instagram story post.

Slimcase emphasized that artists are placing undue pressure on themselves to churn out new music frequently, which he believes is unsustainable.

He wrote: “There’s an excess of songs and albums in the industry. Why are you all stressing yourselves so much in Nigeria? Take a break, follow Rihanna’s lead. Explore other ventures and return with something fresh.

The overabundance of releases is making the music lose its charm. I’ll drop one song this year, and that’s it. Remember, only God is new every morning. The constant flood of singles and albums is slowly killing Afrobeats — it’s just not enjoyable anymore.”
