Afrobeats star Skales recently opened up about his journey from extreme poverty to stardom, sharing a deeply personal story of his early struggles.

During an emotional interview on A TownHall Different Podcast, the singer recalled living in a makeshift hut with his mother in Kaduna before achieving musical success.

Here’s his heartfelt revelation:

“Life wasn’t easy growing up. From Kaduna’s poorest neighborhoods to where I stand today feels surreal. My mother, a dedicated teacher, raised me in a mud hut—we slept on mats spread over dirt floors. Owning a television was unimaginable until my EME record deal changed everything. When I reflect on that journey, it’s overwhelming.”
