Renowned Nigerian vocalist Aituaje Iruobie, popularly known as Waje, has candidly shared her reasons for ruling out marriage to a financially unstable man.

She made these revelations during a recent appearance on *The Honest Bunch* podcast, sparking widespread discussions.

The 45-year-old songstress elaborated on why she wouldn’t consider a relationship with a man facing economic challenges.

As a mother and established artist, she emphasized that her current life stage demands stability rather than economic companionship.

“Marriage to an unsuccessful man isn’t on the table for me, and here’s the reason: I’m past my 20s—we’re not at the same growth phase,” she asserted.

“A man should lead by inspiring me. If he can’t motivate my growth, partnership is impossible. Success, faith, and emotional intelligence are non-negotiable.”

Waje also dismissed the idea of dating a younger partner, citing incompatibility.

“It wouldn’t work. I’m too practical—even my siblings and friends get my tough love. Imagine a younger spouse? He’d feel like my child, not an equal,” she explained.
