Simi

Nigerian music sensation Simi has found herself at the center of a social media storm following TikToker Mirabel’s shocking admission that her viral r@pe accusation was fabricated.

The controversy erupted on February 18 when a TikTok video surfaced showing Mirabel alleging she had been assaulted and cut with a blade inside her residence.

The clip quickly went viral, sparking widespread outrage and heated debates across digital platforms.

While many initially rallied behind Mirabel, condemning the alleged attack, skeptics soon emerged, highlighting inconsistencies in her account. Some accused her of manufacturing the story for online fame, creating a sharp divide in public sentiment.

Simi entered the fray with a passionate X post condemning r@pe culture, calling on men to hold each other accountable and questioning why discussions about sexual violence trigger defensive reactions.

Her remarks drew immediate backlash, with critics accusing her of overlooking the dangers of false accusations.

The situation escalated when a 2016 tweet from Simi resurfaced, taken out of context as suggestive humor. As criticism mounted, a fabricated apology screenshot began circulating as meme material mocking the artist.

Internet users also coined the mocking nickname “Ikorodu Celine Dion” in reference to the singer.

In her defense, Simi maintained that sexual violence against women remains pervasive and cautioned against using rare false claims to silence genuine victims.

“Nearly every woman in my circle has experienced sexual violence at some point,” she stated. “We can’t let fear of false reports prevent survivors from speaking out.”

While acknowledging liars should face consequences, she emphasized her focus remained on addressing systemic sexual violence.

“How many of your male friends have faced false accusations versus how many have actually assaulted women? Women aren’t safe anywhere—not in public, not at home. END R@PE CULTURE!” she concluded.

The narrative shifted dramatically when controversial online personality VeryDarkMan revealed he’d spoken with Mirabel, who confessed to fabricating the entire story.

According to his account, Mirabel admitted creating the fake TikTok account that had been messaging her and begged for assistance, describing herself as directionless and desperate.

The 18-year-old reportedly disclosed being an orphan, identifying as lesbian, and battling substance abuse involving alcohol and codeine. She also confessed to self-harm behaviors.

VeryDarkMan appealed for public compassion, highlighting the mental health crisis underlying the situation and sharing plans to enroll Mirabel in rehabilitation.

Authorities have since transferred the case to Ogun State for further investigation.

The incident continues to fuel intense online discourse, reigniting critical conversations about sexual violence accountability, false allegations, and the mental health challenges behind viral social media controversies.
