Renowned critic Daniel Regha dismissed Shallipopi’s album “Auracle” as uninspired, claiming it lacked lyrical depth or innovation, with only a handful of redeeming beats.

Nigerian artist Shallipopi has clapped back at music analyst Daniel Regha following his scathing review of the Afrobeats star’s new album, Auracle.

Regha contended that the project showcased no artistic progression, labeling it repetitive and lacking creativity. Though he admitted certain tracks had solid production, he argued the album’s quality deteriorated track by track.

He proposed that a concise EP format would have better suited the material, despite acknowledging that commercial success was likely due to current listener preferences.

Regha’s blunt critique read: “Shallipopi isn’t a true artist—just someone with studio access. Though he deserves credit for spotlighting his home state, ‘Auracle’ is a grating listen devoid of lyrical depth or originality. Beyond a few decent instrumentals, the songs worsen sequentially. It should’ve been trimmed to four or five tracks. While it’ll chart thanks to today’s music trends, this album won’t elevate anyone’s intellect or shift culture.”

The sole standout, ‘Pull Up’ featuring Pa Salieu, offers decent rhythm, but even then, the lyrics falter. Final verdict? A dismal 1/10.”

Shallipopi retaliated with a sharp retort: “SYBAU. You know nothing about music.”
