Renowned Nigerian Juju maestro, Oluwashina Akanbi Peters, popularly known as Sir Shina Peters, has confidently claimed that his collection of timeless hits surpasses even that of global icon Michael Jackson.

During a candid conversation on The Honest Bunch podcast, Peters emphasized that a musician’s enduring legacy is defined by their catalog of classics.

The Afro-juju pioneer asserted that creating songs that stand the test of time remains the ultimate aspiration for any artist.

At 67, the veteran performer proudly stated he has notched up four everlasting hits—a feat he believes outshines Jackson’s legendary “Thriller” and “We Are the World.”

“The true measure of an artist’s impact lies in their evergreen songs. I’m proud to have four such tracks, while Michael Jackson, with all his greatness, left us two classics,” Peters remarked.

“That alone speaks volumes about my contribution to music.”

Despite his achievements, Peters expressed disappointment with the current Nigerian music scene, criticizing modern artists for straying from the high standards set by his generation.

He lamented that today’s musicians have, in his view, diluted the musical excellence he once helped establish.
