Renowned Nigerian skit maker and content creator Shank Comics has stirred controversy with his bold claim that comedians outearn music artists in Nigeria.
In a recent live session, he challenged the common perception that musicians dominate wealth rankings, suggesting comedians strategically accumulate more assets while avoiding flashy displays.
Shank specifically named comedy veterans Bovi and Basketmouth as having greater net worth than Afrobeats heavyweights like Asake, Wizkid, and Burna Boy, attributing this to their investment-focused financial strategies.
“The comedy industry generates more sustainable wealth than music. While artists splurge on luxury cars, top comedians quietly build empires through smart investments,” he asserted.
“Comedians prioritize long-term financial security over temporary status symbols. Many could easily afford the extravagant vehicles musicians showcase, but choose wiser allocation of resources.”
“This disciplined approach to wealth management gives comedians greater financial stability in the long run,” Shank concluded.
