In a heartfelt conversation on The Honest Bunch Podcast, Seyi Shay reminisced about working closely with Wizkid during the early stages of her career, describing him as both a mentor and a friend.

The talented vocalist shared how their musical synergy led to multiple collaborations, including her hit single Crazy, where Wizkid made a guest appearance, and an unreleased track where she returned the favor. She also lent her voice as a backing vocalist on several of his projects.

“Wizkid and I created magic together—he jumped on my song Crazy, and I featured on one of his tracks too. Beyond that, I contributed background vocals to some of his records. Our friendship grew naturally from there,” she revealed.

Expressing her awe at his creative process, Seyi Shay added, “Wizkid’s talent is otherworldly. I’ve witnessed him lay down verses while casually eating—it blew my mind. His ability to pull inspiration from thin air is like wizardry. I’m drawn to artists who possess that kind of supernatural gift.”

She also credited Wizkid for guiding her through the complexities of the music industry. “He gave me priceless advice about the business and warned me about certain industry pitfalls. Looking back, I wish I had taken his words more seriously,” she admitted.

Her reflections not only underscore Wizkid’s influence on her artistry but also celebrate the genuine camaraderie they shared during their formative years in music.
