Kelechi Iheanacho’s deal with Sevilla has been cut short by mutual consent.

Both parties agreed to terminate the agreement, which was initially due to expire in June 2026.

Iheanacho signed for Sevilla on a free transfer from Leicester City last year but failed to cement his place in the team. The forward featured 15 times in all competitions during the first half of the 2024/25 campaign, netting three times, before being sent on loan to Middlesbrough in January.

The Nigerian international managed one goal and two assists in 15 matches for the Championship side, but his displays didn’t convince Sevilla to reintegrate him.

His exclusion from Sevilla’s matchday squads in their first three league fixtures this season made it clear his time in Spain was over.

An official club announcement read:

“Sevilla FC and Kelechi Iheanacho have mutually agreed to end the Nigerian striker’s contract. Iheanacho arrived at the club last summer following the expiration of his Leicester City deal.”

The 28-year-old is now tipped to join Celtic, potentially reuniting with Brendan Rodgers, his former manager at Leicester.

Iheanacho’s next career decision will be pivotal as he looks to regain form ahead of Nigeria’s 2026 World Cup qualifying campaign and AFCON preparations.
