Afrobeat artist Seun Kuti has dismissed claims that he is using Wizkid’s fame to boost his own profile, insisting his career has always thrived without relying on others.
Critics accused Kuti of seeking attention by repeatedly targeting the Grammy-winning superstar and his fanbase in recent online discussions.
Addressing the backlash during a live session, the musician firmly rejected the notion that he needed Wizkid’s influence to stay relevant, highlighting his own global success.
He stated, “People claim I’m using Wizkid to revive my career. But when did my career ever decline? Just last year, I performed at 82 shows across the world.
“From sold-out concerts in Australia, Europe, and the Americas to packed venues in Brazil, my music resonates globally. I call myself ‘Big Bird’ because there’s enough space in the sky for everyone—no one can dominate it entirely.
“Those who truly need career revivals know who they are. I’m not one of them.”
