Nigerian artist Cabrini Divos found himself in an awkward situation recently after restroom attendants at a luxury Lagos hotel almost had him forcibly removed, mistaking him for a woman attempting to access the men’s facilities.
Taking to X (formerly Twitter), the musician revealed that staff confronted him, alleging he was impersonating a man to gain entry before summoning security. His viral post detailed the bizarre encounter:
“EKO HOTEL bathroom staff called security on me claiming I was faking being male? Seriously, how?
I had just finished my soundcheck and needed a quick outfit change before my performance—no time to go back to my apartment. When I entered, they tried redirecting me to the women’s side, but I corrected them. Moments later, as I washed my hands, they brought security, insisting I was pretending to be a man. At first, it was laughable, but then I had to set them straight.
Their excuse? That I didn’t ‘explain myself.’ What exactly was I supposed to explain?!”
He later shared footage of the incident from inside the restroom.
