Speaking candidly during a News Central feature, Henshaw pressed for comprehensive legal safeguards to shield surrogate mothers from unfair treatment.
The acclaimed actress stressed that surrogacy demands careful deliberation due to its complex emotional and physiological implications.
Henshaw advocated for Nigeria to implement rigorous surrogacy legislation, ensuring protection for both intended parents and gestational carriers alike.
She passionately stated, “Commercial surrogacy creates a dangerous power imbalance – financially struggling women become commodities when we simply pay them to bear children. Where are the enforceable safeguards? Who ensures their welfare continues after delivery?”
