Sammie

Samuel Jacob, widely recognized as Sammie from Big Brother Naija, has candidly shared his struggles with depression and financial hardships post-reality show.

Through a heartfelt Instagram video, the ex-housemate disclosed his ongoing battle with depression as he navigated life after the show.

Contrary to the public’s perception of his success, Sammie confessed to spending countless nights weeping alone in his Lekki home, grappling with the harsh realities of Lagos life.

“After the show, I lost track of how often depression hit me. I’d sit in my Lekki apartment, tears streaming down my face. A grown man with a beard, questioning God. Some days I’d feel grateful, others I’d just collapse emotionally.”

He highlighted how financial instability exacerbated his mental health struggles, emphasizing the disparity between his expenses and income.

“Money wasn’t flowing in, but life demanded I keep up appearances. It was mentally exhausting,”
he revealed.

Sammie explained that leaving university to join Big Brother Naija derailed his plans, leaving him directionless.

“I was in Lagos, trying to live up to the ‘star boy’ image, but reality was far from glamorous,”
he shared.

He also recounted moments of feeling overshadowed as peers appeared to flourish.

“You’d see young guys cruising in their G-Wagons, while I’m here eating indomie, masking my struggles behind a well-dressed facade,”
Sammie added.
