Former Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr has thrown his weight behind Nigeria as they gear up for the 2026 FIFA World Cup African qualifiers.
The Malian team, under Chelle’s leadership, faces stiff competition from Gabon, Cameroon, and DR Congo in the decisive playoff round.
Nigeria will clash with Gabon in the semi-finals at the Prince Héritier Moulay El Hassan Sports Complex in Rabat on November 13, while Cameroon squares off against DR Congo at El Barid Stadium on the same day.
Rohr, who previously managed Nigeria and now leads Benin Republic, expressed confidence in the Super Eagles’ ability to secure victory.
“Nigeria boasts an array of top-tier players and lethal attackers. We tested ourselves against them but couldn’t prevail,” Rohr shared on Brila FM. “Though we defeated them in the qualifiers—a result we cherished—I’ll be rooting for the Super Eagles in the playoffs.”
